"Inidani" is a multilingual (Kannada and English) magazine published by Shivalli Kutumba of North America for their biennial summit "Sammilana" held in Houston, Texas 2023. The magazine showcases a variety of stories and poems written by the members of the organization. This concept is very close to my heart as it tells a story of my hometown Udupi, a small town in the southern part of India in the state of Karnataka. “Shivalli Brahmins” form a prominent community that lives on the western coast, the Parshurama Sristi, in the state of Karnataka in India. The word “Shivalli” is an ancient name in the Udupi district, which means “Brahmins of this district”. The inspiration for the cover came from the map of the district that spanned from Kasargod to Kundapura and various things that constitute the culture. This falls under one of my favorite categories of work I like to do as a designer and as a person who grew up in this culture.
